Brockton 4, New Hampshire 3

@ Brockton, MA.   Time: 2:50  Attendance: 1,838

HR: None

Brockton strung together three straight singles in the bottom of the ninth inning to snap a 3-3 tie and defeat the American Defenders of New Hampshire 4-3. DH Palmer Karr had the game winning RBI and Rox 1B Keith Brachold went 3-for-4 and scored the deciding run. SS Dom Ramos also had three hits for Brockton to go with a RBI and a run scored. The middle of the New Hampshire order was solid as three players combined for six of the Defenders nine total hits. Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision. Brockton’s Matt Zachary picked up the win by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth. Juan Padilla suffered the loss for New Hampshire.

Quebec 3, New Jersey 1

@ Little Falls, NJ.  Time: 2:30 Attendance: 943

W: Michel Simard (2-0) L: David Qualben (0-1) S: Jason Schutt (2)

HR: None

Quebec got a strong start from Michel Simard who went eight innings and allowed just four hits as the Capitales downed New Jersey 3-1.  Jason Schutt pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his second save. Capitales LF Issael Gonzalez had two RBI in the contest while C Pierre-Luc LaForest, RF Alex Nunez, and SS Ivan Naccarata each had two hits for Quebec. Jackals 3B Myron Leslie had two hits for New Jersey in a losing effort.

Worcester 3, Sussex 2

@ Augusta, NJ.  Time: 2:34 Attendance: 559

W: Nick Conway (1-0) L: Matt Petrusek (0-1) S: John Sullivan (2)

HR: None

Worcester SS Garrett Olson drove in the winning runs with a ninth inning double as part of a 2-for-3 night and the Tornadoes beat Sussex 3-2. Olson batted in all three of the Tornadoes runs in the contest. DH Nick Salotti also came up big for Worcester going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Kyle Ruwe started for Sussex and was the hard luck loser as he threw seven solid innings, struck out five, and allowed just one run. He left the game with a 2-1 lead but the bullpen couldn’t hold it.  After Worcester grabbed the lead in the top of the ninth, John Sullivan struck out the side in the bottom half to collect his second save.
