Nashua, N.H. – The American Defenders of New Hampshire managed a series split with the New Jersey Jackals taking the finale 15-5 in front of 1,653 fans at Holman Stadium on Sunday.

The Defenders jumped ahead early scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, moving on to score nine runs in the fourth to earn their second win of the season.

Second baseman Boomer Berry finished the game 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Catcher Albert Mojica collected his first professional hit, lacing a bases-clearing three-run double and finished the game 1-for-3, while Jerod Edmondson belted a three-run homer for the Defenders and went 1-for-4. Every hitter in the New Hampshire starting line-up recorded at least one RBI in the game.

Starting pitcher Nick Asselin (1-0) earned his first win of the season pitching five strong innings, giving up two runs, on eight hits, while walking none, and striking out four. Reliever Rob Riley notched his first save of the season, allowing three runs, on seven hits, three walks, and two strike outs in four innings of work.

Jackals’ starter Mike Vicaro (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up nine runs, on eight hits, in three-plus innings. Reliever Giuseppe Granitto allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits in four innings. Marcus Sanders, Quinn Stewart, Ryan Rogowski, and Juan Tejeda each drove in one run for New Jersey. Sanders finished the game 4-for-5 with four singles.

The Defenders will play again on Monday, at 6:35pm, when they host the Brockton Rox at Historic Holman Stadium. Chad Bentz is scheduled to make his first start for New Hampshire. Craig Anderson will get the nod for Brockton.
